| hello friends... i am back from the hospital. Who would have thought that i was allergic to the original kind of sutures the doctors used when i had ella. But now its over and i'm home to heal. Its sort like i just gave birth all over again. But i've taken my percocet and i'm feeling pretty good. ;) For those of you in Seattle i am so excited to see you all in a week and a half! You won't believe how big ella is and how beautiful her smile. She even has the best dimples. Please send us your prayers as i recover and Young takes care of us both. Also - praise God for friends coming over tomorrow to tkae care of us! You know you made a home when you have a community take care of you. love from Boston ~ jen

| Laura Turner was visiting us this past weekend and she mentioned something. She said that when she saw the picture of me holding Ella just after she was born it was just like the photos of all our generations' moms holding us. And i thought about it. I remember a rounded corner photo (you know the kind from the early 80s) of my mom holding me, no makeup on, red face, messy hair and a look of utter relief on her face. And then in her arms a little baby. that baby was me...and now she is me. Its amazing to think that i am exactly my mom's age when she had me. Everyday i spend most of it with Ella - and everyday i see her change. I'm really serious, every single day she changes. One day she can only fling her hand at a toy and the very next day she can hold her fist out and touch it. WOW! Can you imagine having absolutely no control over your limbs and then slowly figuring out that they belong to you! And guess what! Now when she sees my face she smiles! Not just a little smile but a huge make you squint smile! Its so great to have her know me and think - you are all things safe. Its such a huge role to fill and i think i am continually aware of how i come short. But it is so reassuring to know that God is her father too. Now before i go any further and you think wow, it sounds like a perfect time - let me tell you that there is no end to the crying, getting pooped on, spit up on, and waking up at all hours of the night. And i get so frustrated...especially at 2 in the morning...but then the next morning when i wake her up and hold her, all of it seems so so minor. Shes so great. I wish i could introduce her to you all. |
